A One Mann’s Movies review of “News of the World” (2021).
Bob the Movie Man’s Rating:
Plot summary:
Captain Kidd (Tom Hanks) is a war-damaged ex-confederate officer in post Civil War Texas. He makes money by travelling around towns reading out the news from state and national papers. This was pre-internet! On the way he crosses paths with a lost 10-year old white girl: a girl who has been raised by the local Native American tribe but who needs to be taken across Texas to find her only living relatives. Kidd makes it his mission to complete the task, but the North Texas lands are as hostile as they were in “Nocturnal Animals” and there are many perils to be faced along the way.

Great movie in every respect – totally with you on your assessment. Particularly enjoyed the soundtrack but overall, I loved it.
Thanks Martin. I just long to see BIG films like this on the big screen again, where they belong! One day soon!
